| ~ First we prepare the minced meat: ~ Add corn oil in a frying pan to heat up; add the chopped onions, fry a little bit. ~ Add the minced meat and stir until golden brown. ~ When golden brown add the white wine, chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, parsley, salt and pepper. ~ Mix all together, lower the heat and simmer for about 30 minutes. |
| ~ Preparation of vegetables: ~ Peel the potatoes and along with the eggplants and zucchini cut in long thick slices. ~ Fry the above vegetables until light brown. ~ Grease your baking pan and sprinkle some breadcrumbs on the bottom. ~ Line the bottom with a layer of potatoes. ~ Line a layer of eggplant and finally a layer of zucchini. ~ Cover your vegetables allover with your already prepared minced meat. |
| ~ Preparation of the cream: ~ Heat up milk with the butter until it boils. ~ Take some of your milk and add it to the flour, blend it well so there are no lumps. ~ Add slowly the flour mixture and stir constantly with a Wisk. ~ Stir until it becomes a thick cream. ~ Remove from heat. ~ Beat the egg whites in the form of a thick meringue. ~ Add the well beaten egg yolks in the meringue and mix. ~ Add slowly the egg mixture to your cream stirring constantly. ~ Mix well. ~ Pour cream over the meat sauce, making sure that it is all covered. . ~ Sprinkle with some grated cheese and place in the preheated oven. ~ Bake for about 50-60 minutes at 350 degrees or until golden brown. ~ Take it out of the oven, let it cool down a little bit, cut in square serving pieces and serve. ~ Moussakas can be served hot or cold. ~ Moussakas can be served as a Main Dish, Side Dish or as an appetizer. ~ Good luck and bon appétit. |
