| ~ The main characteristic of the Greek Cuisine is the Olive Oil which is used in almost every Greek dish. ~ It is produced from the trees that can be found in most regions throughout Greece, Cyprus and Islands. ~ The Olive Oil gives a distinctive taste to the Greek Cuisine. ~ Spices and herbs that you will find in every Greek Cuisine are mostly oregano, thyme, bay leaves, mint, garlic, onions, dill, basil, cinnamon gloves, nutmeg, salt and black pepper (whole or in powder). ~ Other typical ingredients of a Greek Cuisine (can be eaten as they are or used in some dishes) are the famous all over the world: Kalamata Olives, Greek Feta Cheese, Kasseri Cheese, Kefalotiri Cheese, Kefalograviera Cheese and Mizithra Cheese (which is mostly used over the pasta dishes). |
