| ~ Syrup Ingredients: ~ 2 cup of sugar ~ 2 cup of water ~ 1 tbsp of lemon Juice ~ 3-4 cloves ~ 1 cinnamon stick ~ Lemon peel |
| ~ This recipe is made with fillo ready made and bought at the supermarket. ~ If you want to make your own fillo follow the ingredients (Double the dose) and directions as they are in Greek Pies - Kolokithopita (Pumpkin Pie) |
| ~ Place in a large enough bowl the walnuts, sugar, cinnamon powder, and clove powder, mix well and put aside to marinate until you are ready to use it. ~ Baking pan should be around 12x12 inches. ~ Melt your butter and with a pastry brush, butter your pan on the bottom and sides. ~ Place the sheet of fillo in it without cutting the excess. ~ Butter the first fillo and place a second on top, the third and the forth buttering each one. ~ Place some of your filling after the forth fillo and spread it everywhere. ~ Place another fillo and do the same thing. ~ Continue the same way until you have no filling any more. ~ Place four sheets of fillo on the top buttering each one. ~ Fold the excess over the last fillo and butter the top. ~ With a knife cut the last fillo in diamond shapes and in the center of each diamond place a whole clove to hold the fillo together while is cooking. ~ Place in a preheated oven at 350 degrees and cook for about an hour or until golden brown. ~ Let it cool and cut your Baklava (diamonds shapes) to the bottom of the pan. |
| ~ Syrup: ~ Place all syrup ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to boil. ~ Boil for about 10 minutes until it becomes thin syrup. ~ Assuming your Baklava is cold pour the hot syrup over it and let it being absorbed and cool. ~ After the syrup is absorbed by your Baklava, you are ready to serve. ~ Good luck and enjoy. |
